Today we’ve decided to take a look at a haunted town. Not just any town, but a place thought to be one of the most haunted cities in the United States. It’s certainly amongst our nation’s oldest. Today, we are talking about, haunted Philadelphia. Philadelphia dates back to colonial times. Also, it’s often hailed as the “Birthplace of America”.
Philadelphia was first inhabited by the Lenape people. It’s situated between the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers. William Penn a Scottish Quaker, founded the City in 1682. The meaning comes from two Greek words: Phileo and Adelphos. Which literally mean love and brother. Pen envisioned a “city of brotherly love”. A place of religious tolerance where no one could be persecuted.
